Jeffree Star Thirsty Palette? Is it worth the hype?

This is my first makeup review and we’re going to be reviewing the new Jeffree Star Thirsty Palette. This palette retails for £45 from Beauty Bay and it has 15 shades. 10 mattes and 5 glitters. I know a lot of people are not a fan of Jeffree Star but for anyone who likes him hopefully you will find this helpful.

Let’s talk packaging. The packaging to me screams summer. The outer packaging is bright orange with water droplets embossed onto it and has the word Thirsty written on it in white writing that looks like ice cream is melting. The packaging reminds me of an orange ice lolly and specifically one with the ice cream in the middle if you know what I mean. Also on the inside of the packaging is a wood texture which reminds me of a lolly stick. I will insert a picture of the lollies I mean below.

Shade Rundown- Pinks & Oranges
  • Parched, a very neutral shade that may work as a transition for anyone with lighter skin tones.
  • Taste Buds, Pale pink shade
  • BIITCH, Bubblegum pink shade
  • Kumquat, Pale orange shade
  • Stroke, Dark orangey red shade

Shade Rundown- Glitters
  • Divine, silver glitter
  • Filthy Rich, pale gold glitter
  • Lick, dark gold glitter
  • Snatched, pale rose gold glitter
  • Plunge, bronze glitter

Shade Rundown- Beach Shades
  • Subtle, beautiful neutral shade that’s great for a transition shade.
  • Quench, the most beautiful, pigmented yellow shade in the palette.
  • Submerge, gorgeous turquoise shade
  • Splash, gorgeous pale teal shade
  • Drizzle, dark brown shade
Now onto the main part, the formulation and pigment. As you can see from the pictures above the pigment is definitely there I mean come on look at that yellow! I didn’t even have to dig into it to get that much pigment and those glittery shades! Oh my god! I don’t feel like you have much of a difference if you apply with brushes either which is good for a palette. It does go on a bit more sheer with a brush but that’s expected and the shades are buildable. Starting with the formulation of the mattes, I really like it they are really smooth and blend so well together. I also love how they don’t blend into one because there is nothing more annoying than that. There also isn’t a lot of fallout with the mattes which is really good. For the glitters, they have a buttery formulation which goes on really smoothly and they also blend well. The only faults I can say about them are that they do have a lot of fallout. I was covered in glitter after I had done my makeup and it struggled to come off with a brush as well so I was left with glitter all over my face. The only other fault I can give it is that the shades start to dent when you have touched them because of the soft formulation. I didn’t dig into them with either my finger or a brush and I still got a dint you can see it on the first picture in Lick. The one thing I do really like about the glitters too is that you don’t need to wet your brush for that pigment which is amazing. With every other glittery eyeshadow I own I have to wet the brush to get it’s full potential but with this you definitely don’t need to. You get the full potential just from one swipe. I will post the look I did below so you can see it on and I will list the other products I used.

Foundation- Kat Von D Lock It Foundation
Eyebrows- Maybelline Eyebrow Pencil (I’m so sorry I can’t remember which one it is)
Contour- Nyx Contour Palette
Highlight- Sleek Solstice Palette
Mascara- Mac Extreme Dimension Mascara & Mac Extended Play
Liner- Jouer Cosmetics Papaya Liquid Lipstick
Nyx Liquid Suede Lipstick- Sandstorm

I’m sorry my camera isn’t the best at picking things up, the gold has gone all the way up not as patchy as it looks here.

Overall, I would recommend this palette to anyone who loves these sorts of shades. There are some colours that you could use as neutrals but not very many so it would be better for someone who isn’t scared to use colour. I do recommend buying it from Beauty Bay if you are in the UK as they are such a good website and you don’t have to pay customs fees.  I absolutely love Jeffree Star Cosmetics and for my first palette from the brand I am so impressed with it.
